Animal Health Partners is a state-of-the-art emergency and specialty hospital in Toronto. We are a 30 veterinarian, 120 support staff hospital housed within a 20,000 square foot facility fully equipped with specialty technology found nowhere else in Canada, including our AI triage and rounding system and 3 Tesla MRI. Role Description

The Hospital Manager (HM) must ensure that the hospital is always operating in a way that is consistent with Animal Health Partner’s Core Values: Quality, Compassion, Service, Innovation, and Partnership. The HM must ensure that all staff know and understand these beliefs, and understand how to apply them in practice. This role is a full-time position that reports to the Operations Director.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee smooth and efficient operations of the hospital

  • Lead the administrative team including hospital managers, supervisors, leads, and other administrative and medical personnel

  • Work closely with the Chief of Staff to advance clinical objectives and department supervision

  • Assist in hiring processes of all specialists, emergency veterinarians, and support staff

  • Handle human resource issues when they arise with the assistance of the HR/Operations Manager and escalate to the Operations Director when needed

  • Work with the Operations Director to create and execute the vision for the hospital

  • Create policies and manage daily staffing to ensure optimal operation of the practice

  • Ensure regular reports are completed on a weekly basis

  • Review accounts receivable reports

  • Promotes a cooperative working environment among staff members

  • Represents the organization appropriately and professionally

  • Promotes a client-centered environment and facilitates programs and processes that meet client needs

  • Facilitates resolution of client problems that doctors or other staff members cannot finalize

  • Resolves financial problems with clients and determines when special financial agreements are appropriate

  • Oversees all hospital wide marketing efforts

  • Other duties as assigned

Professional Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in veterinary or medical office management

  • BS/BA in business administration or related field, CVPM would be an asset

  • Proficiency with PIM systems and software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Work exposure to all aspects of a business enterprise, with demonstrated competence in budgeting and financial reporting and in staff management

  • Have strong management and leadership skills with the ability to set priorities, delegate, motivate and develop the hospital and team to become top performers in the community

  • Be an experienced people manager, who has hired, trained and held people accountable for their performance

  • Have developed emotional intelligence to be able to contain emotional situations around the hospital

  • Have financial skills to understand the needs of the business and the importance of growing revenues and controlling expenses

  • Have passion for what you do every day! Enthusiasm, energy and a positive attitude are a must

  • Be comfortable if required to work uncommon hours, and be subject to recall in emergency situations
