We are seeking a passionate Software Developer that will focus on developing Windows and Linux applications, tools and automation systems. The created software will be used by design engineers and within test labs for embedded systems, HMI displays and machine control systems. The individual will work with software developers, control engineers, manufacturing and service experts. The successful candidate will have experience with Windows desktop application development, Linux systems, software engineering cycles, electronic debugging collaborative team environment where ideas are welcomed and openly discussed. Passionate and creative individuals who enjoys various software and hardware technologies and challenges are an ideal fit.

This position is in office, we do not have remote opportunities available.      
Day shift: 5 x 8 hour shifts; Monday to Friday

Responsibilities may include:  

  • Develop Windows based tools and applications used by engineers for analysis, configuration, testing and deployment of successful off-road forestry machine control systems.
  • Formulation and implementation of software for automation of test lab equipment for embedded systems, HMI displays and machine control systems.
  • Develop data management systems for machine on-board embedded systems.
  • Research into test strategies and composition of test plans.
  • Participate in design of software build, test and deployment strategies for on-board machine embedded and control systems.
  • Assist with electronics research lab advancements.

Skills and Experience:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience programming in C#, Python and C/C++.
  • Prior experience with Windows desktop application development.
  • Comfortable with working within a Linux environment.
  • Proficient with using code versioning tools, such as Git and Subversion.
  • Prior experience with automated software tools and systems.
  • Strong attention to detail for quality assurance of deliverables.
  • Working experience with databases and SQL scripting.
  • Experience with embedded systems and/or control systems is desirable.
  • Sound understanding of electrical circuits is desirable.
  • Resourceful at solving problems and willing to learn new technologies and skills when needed.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team environment.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Previous experience in heavy forestry equipment/machines is not required.
