PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT SOURCING SPECIALIST

SCOPE OF THE POSITION
 
The Sourcing Specialist’s main responsibilities include material sourcing and the facilitation of manufacturer selection and decision making process. The sourcing specialist will report to the Regulatory, Systems, and Documentation Manager. 

MORE SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
 
Coordinate the discovery and evaluation of new and existing materials from a technical and quality standpoint.
Maintain materials documentation database. 
Create and communicate with suppliers regarding purchase orders for samples and internal trials.
Review raw material specifications for critical information necessary to make comparisons between similar materials. 
Lead item setup within the business ERP and related systems. 
Lead training on ERP setup and item review as necessary for peers within the Product Development function. 
 

THE CANDIDATE:
 

•Post Secondary Diploma in Food Science, Food Technology or comparable discipline.
•Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in food manufacturing industry.
•Familiar with food formulations and ingredient functionality.
•Team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with fast paced and diverse cross functional teams. 
•Strong organizational skills (project management experience considered an asset).
•Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
•Good knowledge of food ingredients and suppliers.
•Ability to interpret nutritional data and product specifications.
•Working knowledge of Manufacturing Quality Systems, Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP.
•Experience with Genesis and ingredients database management will be considered asset but is not necessary.
