RAM is a technical consultancy providing Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering and Advisory services across Canada. RAM is searching for a motivated and experienced individual in Vancouver, BC. The successful candidate will be an individual that enjoys a challenging, professional, and dynamic workplace and contributing to the success of a hardworking team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating detailed Civil designs, including scope clarification, estimates, and calculations;
  • Preparing sketches and drawings including alignments, profiles, sections, and corridors using Civil 3D;
  • Calculating quantities for various civil projects using Civil 3D;
  • Providing quality checks on the design drawings as per the RAM standards;
  • Providing training and support for others in creating Civil 3D models;
  • Contributing to the planning and scheduling of work to achieve prescribed objectives;
  • Preparing and maintaining drawing templates for various types of projects;
  • Coordinate with department drafting teams to ensure RAM standards are up to date;
  • Assisting with the preparation of progress reports and monitoring project controls;
  • Recommending changes in plans and specifying estimated costs;
  • Complete field reviews as necessary; and
  • Provide support to other departments, as required;

Ideal Candidate Requirements

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering or technical qualifications with 2+ years of experience designing or drafting for local utility, transportation, and pipeline projects;
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D in drafting and design of civil infrastructure (Grading, Sewer, Storm, and Road Works);
  • Experience providing technical assistance and coaching others in Civil3D;
  • Experience in underground electrical and communication duct design; specifically, with BC Hydro or Telus is an asset;
  • Experience in pipeline trench and manhole design; specifically, with Fortis BC is an asset;
  • Understanding of project cycle from conceptual design through to as-built drawings;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Familiarity with municipal, MMCD, and other local standards;
  • Familiarity with Utility Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software is an asset; and
  • Field experience is an asset;
