Position Overview

We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Event Manager to oversee and coordinate our in person and online events across Canada. The Event Manager will be responsible for every part of event preparations, such as overseeing venue contracts, managing event inventory and shipments, directing staff, choosing the best online platform and evaluating success after the event. The ideal candidate is well-organized, a clear communicator and possesses a working knowledge of event management.

About the Role

In this role, you will be responsible to achieve the following objectives:

  • Execute all FamilyLife Weekend Getaways and other National FL Events, in-person and online, with excellence, equipping the teams for each event.

  • Maximize participation in all events by coordinating with FL Marketing.

  • Empower field staff to run professional, on brand in-person and online events by providing training and guidance.

  • Provide strong follow up steps for event attendees to connect them with the FamilyLife volunteer network, HomeBuilders (HB)

  • Develop in depth skill and knowledge for using CRM software (currently using Hubspot) in order to equip staff to recruit and coach volunteers and to develop church partnerships effectively.

  • Effectively use online software for registration, webinars, online training and volunteer management

  • In partnership with the Marketing & Operations Team, grow the FamilyLife Canada social media audience and increase engagement.

  • Ensure all events are evaluated in a timely fashion according to the event and ministry goals.

  • Oversee logistics for shipping and receiving conference supplies and material.

About You

  • You have a deep, growing, intimate relationship with Jesus Christ

  • You have a genuine desire to see people’s lives transformed by Jesus

  • You possess strong interpersonal skills

  • You are able to manage competing priorities and multiple events in various stages of planning

  • You are proficient in Google Suite or equivalent

  • You have experience with online event platforms and how to best utilize options for different events

  • You are a team builder while also self-motivated and able to work independently

  • You are intellectually curious, exhibited strong skills in problem-solving, comfortable in asking questions, investigating, research

  • You are calm under pressure and able to make quick timely decisions during events

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or Hospitality Management preferred

  • 2 plus years of experience in event management

  • Proficient in online database management software and video conferencing systems

  • Experience in WordPress and Adobe Creative Suite an asset
