The opportunity will commence in May and end at the end of August and will be ideal for College/University students who may be looking for practical experience in their field of study. Although there is no guarantee in set weekly hours of work, it is expected that additional hours may be required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a member of our Environmental team, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

Contacting client to arrange field visits;
Complete indoor water sampling at taps according to sampling and floor plans;
Complete Chain of Custody forms and deliver samples to the specified lab, and;
May assist with other environmental projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Working towards a University of College degree/diploma in Environmental Science, Engineering or another related field;
Ability to read and interpret floor plans and technical documents;
Ability to work early mornings Monday to Friday, commencing as early as 6 am;
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal oversight;
Keep legible and complete field notes on sampling activities;
Ability to perform repetitive tasks while staying motivated;
Knowledge of drinking water sampling would be considered an asset;
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team environment, with clients and other stakeholders;
Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills and ability to think creatively;
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English;
Knowledge of MS Office Suite and SharePoint considered an asset;

Mandatory Requirements:

Possesses a valid driver's license and has access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance;
Ability to travel throughout Ottawa for work assignments;
Ability to perform physical work in all weather conditions.
