 The Opportunity

This position is a 6 month contract position.
The Director of Sales is responsible for managing a portfolio of sales in Glen Dimplex Americas with an
approximate size of $40M+ in annual revenue and is a people leader role across Canada and USA. This role includes all current product categories and
 reports into the VP Sales.

In this role you will:

Focus on Leadership/Management

  • Be a leader that can both coach and motivate the entire sales team, instilling in them the knowledge/training needed to increase profit for the organization and enhanced customer experience   
  • Provide leadership and training around best practices and sales techniques that can be utilized by the inside and outside sales teams 
  • Continuously manage the performance and development of the team through proper coaching, development, goal setting, sharing results, motivation and creative incentives 
  • Ability to manage outside sales representatives, 3rd Party Agents towards measurable outcomes in specified key markets/targets
  • Leads, coaches and mentors a large sales team towards high performance results by establishing clear & measurable KPI's 
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage several experienced Sales Managers through fast paced environments   
  • Leads by example & collaborates with other departments to achieve corporate initiatives and goals

Focus on Strategy

  • Create and implement strategic divisional sales and marketing plans that successfully achieve & align to corporate strategy & objectives
  • Develop & implement best in class Ecommerce Strategies across all platforms
  • Develop & implement best in class Instore Planogram & Retail Strategies across independent retailers to large multinational retailers 
  • Lead portfolio customer line reviews within the organization
  • Devise and implement sales strategies for the continued development of existing customer accounts & outline plan to targets & acquire new customers
  • Develop Go-To-Market Strategies before entering new markets/industries

Focus on Performance and Financial Management

  • Ability to create and develop innovative sales programs which directly support the achievement of sales and profitability goals. 
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement complex initiatives 
  • Use data to accurately forecast sales, sales performance & bias 
  • Ability to analyze, interpret & report customer POS data, market trends and competitive intel that enable & deliver business actions/recommendations 
  • Provides monthly reporting and commentary on channel performance including actual results vs. plan, channel operating expenses, demand forecasts, identifies opportunities, risks and outlooks to drive plan commitments with GAP closing action plans 
  • Measure & Communicate inside & outside sales team performance through scorecards 
  • Develop an operating budget for the sales divisions that meets business needs 
  • Accountable to manage Channel/Country Revenue, Contribution Margin & Budgetary goals 
  • Responsible to negotiate customer contracts/agreements within DOA responsibilities 
  • Ability to travel 50%, as required and when needed

  • Retail Flame US & Canada 
  • Ecommerce North America

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Business Administration, Marketing or equivalent experience, MBA preferred 
  • 5-10 years’ experience leading a profession sales team with P&L responsibility 
  • 5-10 years’ experience coaching and developing teams 
  • Previous experience in senior sales role with demonstrated ability to meet or exceed targets 
  • Knowledge of how big box retailers go to market including line reviews, promotional activities, and programs 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present strategy and results to stakeholders both inside and outside of the organization 
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, manage diversity and drive for results 
  • Must have strategic agility, organizational ability, and successful track record for building effective teams. Thinks operationally and strategically, analyzes issues, uses sound judgment, generates new ideas/goes beyond the status quo 
  • Demonstrated skills in negotiating and closing on critical sales contracts 
  • Effective communication, selling and relationship skills with internal and external customers at all levels 
  • Must have analytical, planning and decision-making skills; and demonstrated ability to use sales data for business decisions 
  • Influence and motivate others, coach and develop, foster teamwork, steps forward to address difficult issues, provides clear direction, and champions change 
  • Demonstrated fiscal responsibility and business ethics
