Job Overview
The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for multi-jurisdictional bi-weekly full cycle payroll. Responsible for performing all payroll processing activities to ensure an accurate and timely payroll while maintaining the integrity of payroll data and payroll related records. ROE submission, pay period reporting and Ad- Hoc analysis. As Fire & Flower grows, so does the scope and responsibility of this area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the full payroll cycle – including changes, updates and verification of employee data and payments, payroll processing, balancing and reconciliation prior to submitting payroll, off-cycle payrolls and post payroll tasks.
- Prepare, verify, and process all employee payroll related payments/ deductions, including but not limited to special payments such as bonus, vacation, unpaid leave, commission, termination pay (pay in lieu/ severance), allowance and director fees.
- Responsible for documentations connected to all payroll cycle changes, payments, or adjustments in compliance with our processes and according to accepted standards or organization’s records management and privacy legislation.
- Support the employee life cycle events in Dayforce and ensure HRIS data integrity in relation to these events as required in process such as new hires, leaves of absence, salary increases, work assignments, transfers, terminations, promotion/ demotion, etc.
- Benefits administration, benefits premiums, and associated reconciliations.
- Process ROE's accurately and within the required deadlines as per Service Canada Guidelines and respond to Service Canada inquiries (phone or otherwise).
- Assist with workers Compensation and EHT processes (reporting, filing, reconciliation, and payments).
- Support the year-end process including but not limited to T2200’s preparation, balancing, reconciliations and preparing year-end adjustments for T4’s.
- Help maintain vacation accrual integrity and other accruals as required.
- Responsible for updating Standard Operating Procedures for payroll and benefits processes.
- Generate payroll-related reports and ad-hoc reports as necessary.
- Deliver superior team member experience and act as the main point of contact for the payroll function and the payroll inbox by providing expertise and guidance to our stakeholders.
- Liaise with relevant departments concerning timecard approvals, troubleshooting and addressing any issues.
- Keep updated on payroll issues resulting from changes in employment legislation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education, Training and Experience
- Designated Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP).
- The applicant will have a 3 to 5 years of payroll experience with preference given to those with experience processing payroll for 500+ employees.
- Experience with Ceridian Dayforce.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
