Position Summary:

The SAP Basis Administrator is responsible for the management of the SAP environments. Basis Administrator responsibilities include configuring, monitoring, tuning, maintaining, managing security, and troubleshooting the SAP technical environment. The SAP Basis Administrator should have the ability to analyze issues and provide recommendations for resolution. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Administration all components of SAP environment (such as SAP s4, HANA, Solution Manager, SAP BW/BI, Data Services, FIORI)
  • Administration will include assisting with installation, upgrades and providing on-going maintenance, patches on SAP application
  • Coordinating response to ad-hoc requests
  • Working in a mixed server environment covering Unix and Windows Operating Systems using SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase, and HANA databases
  • Performing related DBA and SAP administration functions including
    • Transport Management System (TMS) configuration and execution
    • Patch maintenance
    • Problem troubleshooting
  • Provides daily operations support for SAP systems and technical infrastructure, including but not limited to transport administration, printer administration, user accounts and authorization
  • Administers and ensures that system service-level patches and backups are in place for all technical components related to the SAP solution, including any file servers holding project related data
  • Maintain multiple SAP instances that comprise the SAP environment (development, quality assurance and production)
  • Introduce technical changes into the environment using a structured approach that minimizes risk and achieves high reliability, availability, and performance of each SAP instance
  • Raise notes to SAP as required and monitor resolution of notes
  • Distribute the online SAP user workload and monitor and manage the SAP background job workload
  • Maintain SAP performance by planning and executing SAP tuning strategies
  • Monitor all SAP systems (work processes, users, system logs, short dumps, locks, developer traces, system traces, disk space, etc.)
  • Perform SAP client administration (create client, copy client, delete client, export/import client) as required
  • Apply and migrate SAP maintenance (hot packages and kernel upgrades) through all systems using a structured methodology
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for all SAP instances and interfaces
  • Day to day administration of SAP application
  • Performance monitoring and maintenance
  • Support business needs like creating user ids, creating new SAP clients, troubleshooting problems
  • Support in areas of maintenance, SAP strategies and other related Basis functions
  • Administration of SAP security (create roles, modify roles, etc)
  • Support daily business needs such as creating user ids, password resets, terminating users, creating new SAP clients, and assisting with all other troubleshooting problems



  • Successful completion of Computer Science, or related Technology degree
  • Minimum of three years SAP Basis Administration experience, including the basic concept of SAP administration and maintenance as well as configuring and administering SAP user security
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be willing to fulfill on-call duties on a regular rotation, covering 24x7 hours during the weeks assigned
  • Self-motivated and have a strong work ethic; willing to go the extra mile when it's crunch time
  • Meticulous, conscientious, analytical, objective-driven individual who is a quick learner
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
