What are we looking for:

The Lead Hand will take direction from the Operation Supervisor to ensure a smooth and successful flow of Operations. The individual in this role will be flexible to rotate between functions and provide support to the Supervisor in their absence. The Lead Hand must be hard working, energetic & focused on Safety, Quality & Productivity.

What will you be doing:

Leadership:

  • Mentor & set an example for all staff on the Production Floor
  • Delegate daily staff assignments as necessary
  • Assist in training & monitoring of staff performance
  • Enforcement of Rules & Company Policies
  • Function as a point of contact on the Production Floor to all other Departments
  • Take Lead of the Staging Area
  • Available to support Overtime Shifts when needed

Daily Task Assignments: (50% Computer Based - 50% Production Floor)

On the Floor:

  • Assignment of daily tasks for Production Staff
  • Verification of all Picked items per Work Order, ensuring accuracy & quantity
  • Process Returns for leftover Bulk of completed Work Orders
  • Investigate & resolve any issues found in the Verification & Returns processes
  • Ensure cleanliness & removal of waste Skids in the Staging Area
  • Escalate On-Hold Skids to the necessary teams (FG Skids & Components / Bulk)
  • Monitor Safety & GMP of Production Staff, ensuring all policies are being followed
  • Coordinate set-up for upcoming Orders; this includes;

- Directing Line Suppliers for the staging of Components on Production Lines

- Directing Set-Up Line Leaders for the preparation of upcoming products

- Communicating with Technical Service on the set-up requirements for upcoming Lines

- All finished Skids are removed in a timely manner

- No unnecessary Skids or Equipment remain on the Production Floor

  • Ensure cleanliness of the Production Floor, this includes;

Computer-Based:

  • Follow the Schedule for issuing Picklist’s in a timely manner
  • Order in house Master Box’s & Pad’s for upcoming Orders as per the MFPS as soon as possible
  • Print Job Packages for Picked Orders as per the Schedule
  • Send Email communications alerting the necessary departments regarding issues or relevant information
  • Maintain a professional Email etiquette: Responding & following up in a timely & professional manner
  • Perform Visual transactions without delay with an emphasis on ensuring accuracy; this includes;

- Receiving Finished Goods

- Issuing bulk & in-house Components

- Issuing additional picked Quantities when needed to complete an Order

- Closing Short Work Orders & communicating on the Schedule

  • Maintain & update the Micro-Schedule; this includes;

- Ensuring accuracy of the Production Comment Section

- Updating & ensuring the accuracy of the Balances for your Shift & the incoming Shift

- Making necessary updates regarding Line Changes or Priority changes

- Secure a solid Priority list for the incoming Shift, making necessary updates when needed

- Accurately update the status of Work Orders (Ready to Go / Done / On-Hold etc.)

  • Monitor & correct Labour Tickets for all Production Staff on your Shift, this includes:

- Verifying & Approving all Labour Tickets in a timely manner

- Accurately capturing all Bluesheet Hours for your Shift

- Ensuring all Direct Labour is properly captured


What will make you a "glittering" candidate:  

  • High School Diploma and equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in Operations / Warehouse environment
  • Department activities: coordination and ensuring productivity standards are met
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Products (Word, Excel)
  • Proficiency in Visual - ERP is required
  • Strong Communication skids (verbal and written)
  • Detail Oriented
  • Professional & Hardworking
  • First Aid & CPR/AED Certified (Preferred)
