About the Role:

Global News Quebec City is looking a full-time ENG Camera Operator/Editor (Video Journalist) to join their team to primarily cover politics and government activity at our National Assembly bureau. Reporting to the Managing Editor at Global Montreal, the successful candidate would be responsible for shooting and editing videos. The work schedule is primarily Monday to Friday from 9am-5pm but may require some overtime - including longer days and occasional weekends. This is a Group 3 position in the current collective agreement. 

 

You'll be working on things like:

  • Shoot and produce quality visual material for various programs; 
  • Edit video and audio into quality news, sports and current affairs stories on a digital platform in the newsroom or at remote locations; 
  • Edit stories in a creative and technically accurate manner; 
  • Gather information from news source for anchor voice overs and stories; 
  • Responsible for shooting visuals and providing audio for remote live segments; 
  • Maintain the camera and editing equipment; 
  • Playback stories from news edit suites or remote locations; 
  • Responsible for safely operating and maintaining a company vehicle; 
  • Transfer feed tapes to edit packs or work reel stories from other news services for use on air or for storage;
  • Help maintain a reliable archival system and collaborate with editorial staff in seeking out video archives within the network system;

If you have the following...we want to hear from you!

  • Bilingual in English and French
  • Minimum three (3) years experience in a broadcast newsroom or the equivalent
  • Post-secondary education in journalism, media, film production or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to shoot video and audio using broadcast video equipment
  • Demonstrated understanding of the rules and concepts of video recording.
  • Maintain camera, equipment and vehicle and operate safely
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must work well under pressure and have a positive can-do attitude.
  • Ability to meet strict daily deadlines, and work co-operatively with others in a dynamic teamwork environment.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology and workflows
  • A knack for thinking on your feet under pressure
  • Strong organizational skills, initiative, punctuality, creativity, and a positive attitude are also required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Candidates must be able to work under stress to meet tight deadlines and be available to work a variety of shifts including early mornings, evenings and weekends.

Global News est à la recherche de un caméraman à temps plein situé à Québec et couvrant principalement la politique et l'activité gouvernementale à notre bureau de l'Assemblée nationale. Relevant du Redacteur en chef, Global Montréal, ce rôle comprend la diffusion, le tournage et le montage de vidéos. L'horaire de travail est principalement du lundi au vendredi de 9 h à 17 h, mais peut nécessiter des heures supplémentaires - y compris des journées plus longues et des fins de semaine occasionnels.


Responsabilités:
Relevant du rédacteur en chef, Global Montréal, ce qui suit résume les principales fonctions, mais ne décrit pas toutes les tâches et responsabilités qui peuvent être attribuées à ce poste :  

  • Produire des reportages sur les activités de l’Assemblée national du Québec et le Gouvernement du Québec. 
  • Produire du contenu d'entreprise engageant pour tous les programmes et plates-formes d'information. 
  • Exiger des comptes du gouvernement, de la communauté et des chefs d'entreprise. 
  • Développer des contacts au sein de la communauté. 
  • Remplir et classer les rapports de dépenses et autres rapports nécessaires en temps opportun et avec précision. 
  • Utiliser et entretenir en toute sécurité le véhicule de l'entreprise, au besoin. 
  • Effectuer d'autres tâches au besoin.

  • Minimum 3 ans d'expérience en tant que videojournaliste 
  • Bilinguisme, anglais et français. 
  • Capacité démontrée à filmer de la vidéo et de l'audio à l'aide d'un équipement vidéo de diffusion 
  • Compréhension démontrée des règles et des concepts de l'enregistrement vidéo. 
  • Entretenir la caméra, l'équipement et le véhicule et opérer en toute sécurité 
  • Capacité de travailler indépendamment. 
  • Doit bien travailler sous pression et avoir une attitude positive. 
  • Capacité à respecter des échéances quotidiennes strictes et à travailler en collaboration avec les autres dans un environnement de travail d'équipe dynamique. 
  • Doit posséder un permis de conduire valide et un dossier de conduite vierge. 
  • Capacité à s'adapter à l'évolution rapide de la technologie et des flux de travail ainsi qu'à montrer une volonté d'acquérir de nouvelles compétences en ligne dans une opération d'information numérique à multiples facettes.
