YOUR CHALLENGE

Reporting to the Director, Accounting Standards an Financial Reporting the  Senior Advisor, Accounting Standards and Financial Reporting will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of and compliance with accounting standards and policies, as well as the analyzing and recording unusual and complex accounting transactions. 
The candidate’s primary duties will be as follows:
  • Assess, record and document the accounting impact of unusual and complex transactions (business acquisitions, partnerships, restructurings, etc.).
  • Support and advise multidisciplinary teams on the accounting impact of transactions in the execution of strategic planning. 
  • Analyze new accounting standards and help implement them within the company.
  • Analyze and record various financial instruments.
  • Prepare and review the company’s public and statutory consolidated financial statements.
  • Help analyze the company’s contractual agreements.
  • Help develop and implement the company’s accounting policies.
  • Prepare and conduct accounting training sessions for internal employees.
  • Ensure the accounting oversight and monitor the evolution of IFRS and US GAAP standards, which includes taking part in appropriate training.
  • Take part in due diligence, tax reorganizations, etc.
  • Take part in continuous improvement initiatives.
YOUR SKILLS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a specialty in Accounting 
  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA, CA)
  • Over 10 years of relevant experience, including within a public company
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP standards
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems, explain complex issues and summarize information in writing
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (spoken and written) at all levels of the organization
  • Team management experience (an asset)
  • Experience with financial instrument accounting (an asset)
  • Fluency in French and English required, spoken and written
  • Demonstrates thoroughness, autonomy and initiative
