Reporting to the Manager of Public and Government Affairs in the United States, your role and responsibilities as a Public Affairs and Communications Advisor in the United State will be as follows: 
  • Manage and maintain key internal and external communications assets and channels such as newsletters, social media, and open houses; 
  • Support the Manager of Public and Government Affairs with preparing internal and external presentation materials and messages;  
  • Collaborate closely with the Development team for the purpose of assisting them in developing renewable energy projects through strategic communications and grassroot engagement; 
  • Support the Development team in drafting bid packages for calls for tenders, through the identification of key stakeholders, the development of content, and creative approaches to tender solicitations; 
  • Collaborate with the Operations team to assist them in managing issues related to our electricity production activities of our already operational assets; 
  • Work in partnership with the Operations team and the Corporate Communications team in a crisis to preserve the organization's reputation; 
  • Prepare internal communications documents to guide internal awareness of policy developments, proposed legislation and regulations, and other government policies that could impact Boralex's development and operations in the United States; 
  • Represent Boralex within business associations, environmental organizations, sustainability community, and the renewable energy sector by participating, in working groups, conferences, and committees; 
  • University education in a relevant discipline (public relations, communications or other); 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; confidence in communicating across a wide variety of platforms, including digital, written, and in-person presentations; 
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.); 
  • Self-sufficient and attentive to detail; 
  • Available to travel regularly in U.S. and Canada (Toronto and Montréal Able to work under pressure and to manage a number of files simultaneously with very short deadlines; 
  • Able to work as part of a team and establish good relationships using tact and diplomacy; 
  • Concerned with confidentiality and corporate image, and a keen interest in current events and the public and political spheres; 
  • Ability to understand, read, and write in French is a plus.
