Network Engineer
The Information Systems team is critical to the success of Banff Caribou Properties. In this role, you’ll collaborate with the operations and the IS teams to meet the IT demands of our growing employee owned business. The volume is high, the pace is fast, and the team is a fun! We enjoy learning and we hope to hire someone who can teach us a few tricks + we hope you can learn a few things too! The Network Engineer is based at our Head Office in Banff, working 40 hours per week. There are opportunities to work on a range of technologies while collaborating to provide IT / IS direction for our growing company.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Engage with equipment vendors & contractors to determine suitable solutions and purchases
- Collaborate with Senior Manager of IT / IS to plan, procure and manage projects
- Establish legacy knowledge for future training and mentorship including documentation of procedures, trouble shooting and other important information
- Train & delegate routine and project tasks to team members as required
- Administer LAN, WAN & Internet Gateway Services including:
- Install copper and fibre cabling
- Experience planning and installation of network cabinets and patch panels
- Install wireless p-t-p (Ubiquity) and Wi-Fi (Datto formerly OpenMesh) equipment
- Manage DHCP & DNS (MS Windows AD)
- Oversee network design and network security (HP Aruba Network Equipment)
- Deploy & manage Firewall, VPN & Remote Access (Sophos Firewalls and End Point Protection)
- Oversee PBX, Voicemail & Call Centre System Administration (Alcatel PBX)
- Collaborate on and manage Phone System & Network B/U & DR (Unitrends & vReplication)
Skills and Experience:
- An industry certificate in network technology, such as CCNA and/or CCNP is required;
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Information Management/Information Technology (IM/IT), Computer Science or related discipline;
- Experience providing advanced level IT support an environment of similar size and infrastructure;
- Positive attitude, good work ethic and a passion for learning;
- Ability and confidence to work unsupervised, and to know when to use initiative and when to ask for help;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Advanced English Essential);
- Valid Canadian work permit;
- Alberta driver’s license with a clean driving history (a work vehicle is available when on shift);
- Flexibility to cover on-call shifts and to handle helpdesk escalations;
- Must live in Banff or Canmore for this onsite position
Compensation is more than $:
