How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:

Reporting to the Manager, Finance, this position is responsible for using their analytical skills to utilize data and available systems as a foundation for financial analysis, reporting and recommendations. Support the Manager, Finance with the day-to-day financial information to deliver accurate and timely financial data to support base planning, performance evaluation and operating decisions.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of the analysis, reconciliation and documentation for reporting of the annual operating and capital levy.
  • Coordinates and posts the corporate surcharge, review, and analysis of monthly expenditures for all corporate accounts.
  • Provides timely financial information on variance reporting to internal external municipal partners and internal staff, as well as supporting the review and preparation of journal entries as required.
  • Identifies, records and monitors tangible capital assets in line with the Public Sector Accounting Standards framework applicable to TRCA.
  • Prepare financial reports and working papers for external audit purposes; this includes annual TRCA audit and other regulatory audit and review engagements. Reviews and provides support for the reconciliation of receivables, deferred revenues and other balance sheet items.
  • Provides support with ad-hoc financial reporting and collaborates with the Financial Systems Analyst when reports customization is requested by internal users.
  • Coordinate the analysis, review, documentation, and delivery of the financials for multi- year trends to the organization and internal variance reports and monthly reviews.
  • Creates Agresso Business Reports, customizing as requested by internal users.
  • Completes special projects on behalf of Senior Manager/senior staff throughout the year.
  • Respond to Finance related questions and inquiries from employees referencing internal procedures and policies.

 

What will you need to succeed:

  • Undergraduate degree in business/commerce and CPA designation.
  • 5-7 years of experience in related field.
  • Knowledge of financial systems, management controls, processes and tools.
  • Subject matter expert in regard to legislative and accounting standards impacting public sector and not-for-profit organizations.
  • Experience with negotiation, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach when dealing with stakeholders.
