FALL/WINTER TEMPORARY WORKERS

Temporary Duration Up To Six Months
This CUPE 35 unionized position, under the general direction and technical guidance of the Roads and Transportation Foreman, or designate, performs a variety of jobs related to:
- Sidewalk plowing;
- Snow shoveling;
- Snow plowing;
- Road patrol (road inspections);
- Debris cleanup;
- Park maintenance;
- Other duties as assigned.
The work week may include the following hours/shifts (i.e. Monday thru Friday: 7:30 AM–3:30 PM, 12 NOON – 6 PM, 11:30 PM–7:30 AM). Hours are subject to change.
Requirements:

Valid Ontario driver’s licence (minimum Class G);

Ability to work in inclement weather conditions.
Assets:
-
Familiarization with Winter Minimum Maintenance Standards - MMS legal concepts as they apply to winter road maintenance;
Understanding of road weather and able to recognize fundamental atmospheric and pavement conditions and accurately report changing conditions to the on call Supervisor;

A class ‘D’ with ‘Z’ endorsement;

Ability to drive in inclement weather conditions.
Remuneration: $17.00 per hour plus 4% vacation pay.
